Hi Everyone,
We’re writing to share an important update due to the new US import regulations that has recently been announced, including the removal of the de minimis threshold and the introduction of additional tariffs on imports. These sudden changes affect all international orders shipping to the US — and they especially impact small businesses like ours. While we take this time to understand the full impact of these policies and adjust responsibly, we’ve made the decision to temporarily close checkout for US shipping addresses starting from April 22 to May 11, 2025.
All US orders can be placed as normal with no additional taxes due before April 22, 2025.
🇺🇸 What’s Happening?
As of April, the United States government is introducing new tariff regulations that will have a significant impact on businesses like ours that ship goods internationally. Previously, US customers could enjoy a “de minimis” threshold, this allowed orders under $800 to be imported without additional import taxes. For small businesses like us and many others, this helped us keep our prices fair and accessible. However, under the new regulations, this tax-free threshold will be removed, along with worldwide new tariffs —will be applied to all shipments, regardless of order value.
🧵 What This Means for Yardblox Fabrics
As a small, independently run fabric store, we’re navigating these changes very carefully. We want to ensure:
- We don’t pass sudden, unpredictable costs onto our customers.
- We have time to adjust, strategize, and explore solutions without compromising on service or transparency.
- You have the opportunity to shop before changes take effect.
That’s why we’ve decided to temporarily hold US orders between 4/22 and 5/11 while we evaluate the full impact and make thoughtful decisions.
📅 Last Day to Order Before the Hold: April 21, 11:59 PM PST
If you’re planning a project or need to stock up, we recommend placing your US order by Sunday, April 21st to avoid shipping delays or future price increases.
🔮 Looking Ahead: Our Plan for the Future
We’re already working on several ideas to adapt to these changes. These include:
- Exploring alternate shipping routes or fulfillment partners that may reduce the impact of these tariffs
- Working with our suppliers to find ways to keep costs down without sacrificing quality
- Keeping our community informed and involved in our decision-making process
The coming months will bring some challenges, but they’ll also bring new opportunities to grow, adapt, and continue to provide as wide of a range of fabrics as we set out to. We’re in this for the long haul, and your continued support means the world to us.
🤝 Thank You for Supporting Small Business
We truly appreciate your understanding during this uncertain time. It’s tough moments like these that remind us how grateful we are for your support. We’re working hard behind the scenes to find creative ways to keep bringing you beautiful fabrics without compromising affordability or our values.
Stay tuned—we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
💌 With Gratitude,
Annie & Yvonne
